Are you interested in visiting or joining the Letitia Penn Doll Club of Philadelphia?
As a member you will be able and expected to attend the regular meetings of the club. These are held on the second Tuesday of the month. Our members meet at The Historic William Penn Inn, 1017 DeKalb Pike, Gwynedd PA at 11:45 am to dine together before our 1:00pm meeting and program. Lunch cost $30-40 and includes a salad, entree, and dessert; this helps us keep the meeting room at no additional cost. LPDC has a governing board of directors consisting of elected members who meet once a month before the membership meeting.
You won’t want to miss the workshops, special lunches, trips to museums, shops and Doll shows/sales. Since LPDC is affiliated with a national group - The United Federation of Doll Clubs - you may also want to attend some of the regional and national conventions held throughout the country. Doll News Magazine will be mailed directly from UFDC four times a year and we send a "Letitia Penn Letter" to all members each month.
Since we are basically doll collectors our programs at each meeting are usually educational as well as enjoyable. Many times we have sales tables set up to display the dolls and other items brought in by members. This is an excellent way to share our dolls with others so we can all learn more about them, especially those that are unusual and/or rare.
Quite a few members contribute their time and talents by sharing their love of dolls with other organizations, churches, nursing homes, children’s centers, etc. Some members do buy and sell doll related items so we provide a sales table at each monthly meeting for this purpose. Any member may bring items to sell but due to space we must limit to three items on the table at one time per person.
To become a member, you must attend three meeting before submitting your application to the Membership Chairman. Your application for membership will be voted upon by the club members at the next meeting. We have an initial one-time fee of $15 and our yearly dues are $60.
